Capricorn Lunar Eclipse 6/5 Pause, Feel, Reveal

Before we dive into the meaning of this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn, let’s review some of the essential themes of late. Astrology, after all, like transformation itself, is a journey, not a destination. It is a representation of an ever-expanding continuum, not a static endpoint. The path is realized step by step, each stone vitally crucial to the whole.

First off, the “great pause” (as I have labeled it) is still very much in effect. Venus has finally gone direct June 25, beginning the integration phase of its cycle. That said, at the time of this Full Moon Eclipse, Neptune, Saturn, Pluto, Jupiter, and Mercury are still retrograde. Chiron goes retrograde on the 16th and Eris (squaring Pluto, Jupiter & Saturn) goes retro on the 19th. As much as we want “normal motion”, as much as we want to “move forward already”, as much as we “just want some certain to this uncertainty”, we are still very much in the gap of change itself. Retrogrades are profound times of past review and reassessment of ground covered and actions taken. The trick is to embrace the pause, not fight it.

Why? New data, information, epiphanies, and insights often only arise in times of silence. Think of the motion of a great ship turning course. The wheel is spun, but it takes a while for it to make the shift. During that time, it appears almost motionless.

Tension can arise if we vie for control, fight the current, or demand the delay be more comfortable than it is. Forced stops tend to appear in this case, not as a punishment, of course, just “helpful” reminders to wait.

Another required correction on the radar for the last year and a half and especially highlighted now is the development of empathy. More on that in a minute, but if you take nothing else from my post today, please know the current remedy is centered in feeling. Feelings are there to get your attention. They are our connection to heart-centered action, passion, purpose, healing, and the alchemy of change itself. Another point, if you ignore the feelings, if you project, blame, minimize, or numb, they do not go away, they, and the situations that allow them, only get louder. More “helpful” reminders to push you in the right direction.

My mantra of late?

Pause, Feel, Reveal.

On to this Capricorn Lunar Eclipse Full Moon.

A Lunar Eclipse always occurs at a Full Moon when the Earth is exactly between the Sun and Moon casting a shadow upon the Moon itself. We (the Earth) must decide how best to shine (Sun) now that our unconscious (Moon) has been revealed. Another way of saying this is the Moon is darkened for a moment so we can proceed forward in a new way (Sun). We can respond, not just react.

What is being darkened to reset? Capricorn.
What is being left in illumination? Cancer.

If this sounds familiar, it is. Astrology, like life, has a way of reiterating essential themes. If you don’t get the lessons the first time around, they simply come round again. The fact we are even having a third eclipse in this cycle is telling. We typically have two. The fact it is literally restating this current theme is an exclamation point to the learning.

We have been journeying through the Capricorn/Cancer correction for about two years. This Moon, we officially get closer to a culmination of that learning as we won’t have another eclipse in Capricorn for about 9 years.

(Side note: Before we get too excited, that Pluto return in Capricorn is still activated in the U.S chart, so we are not entirely done with Capricorn vibes. For more on that, go here).

What does this all mean? In short, the requirement of Cancerian light to correct the shadows of Capricorn.

More heart. Less head.
More altruism. Less Greed.
More compassion. Less selfishness.
More feminine genius. Less toxic masculinity.
Less control. More cooperation.
More feeling. Less intellectualizing.
More connection, empathy, sensitivity.
More putting ourselves in the shoes of another…
before taking action.

“Humility it`s not about thinking less of yourself, it`s about thinking about yourself less, having empathy, being humane and showing concern for the pain and suffering of others. That, is humility in the true sense.”
Nurudeen Ushawu

Check in. How are you reflecting that empathic energy at others? How about yourself? What is the wisdom of your current feelings?

It is also important to assess as a nation. Why? This particular eclipse is quite active in the U.S. chart. It directly opposes the U.S. Cancer Sun, and the path of the eclipse itself takes it across parts of the U.S.

Welcome to the empathy reboot.

Enter Vesta.
The asteroid Vesta opposes this Moon and stands with the Cancer Sun, adding a required emphasis to the sensitivity reset.

Myth tells of Vetsal Virgins that were tasked with the sole responsibility of keeping the fire in the central temple. Without fire, Rome, and the civilization that depended on it, would perish.

Vesta, the goddess of the hearth, is the flame that gives us life. It is our vision. Our life force. Our very breath. Our safety. Our security. Our flame is our inspiration. It is our desire. It is our need to move and take action. It is our joy and our rage- both fiery emotions that evoke purpose and passion. It is an extension of truth itself.

Our fire is our laser focus on what is MOST important in our lives. Without it, we are nothing.

What flame are we being asked to stoke? You guessed it. Cancer.

While the spirit of our nation may have been birthed in hopeful freedom and sovereignty, on review, this light was channeled through an imperfect prism. As I study the founding ideology, written by wealthy white men, it is rather clear it was a one-sided game. What appears to be most lacking was an empathic, dare I say, more  feminine genius and basic humanity that is only found in allowing our heart to balance our head. This is not to demean, of course, just to observe. The only way we can change anything is to first acknowledge where we need to grow. And historically, we have had some wins, and have made some significant mistakes. Cancer evokes the wins of historical celebration as well as the generational pain that now needs healing.

Those are the errors in need of correction now.

There is no light in a closed system. Individuals, families, companies, societies, or governments cannot grow by staying the same. Accountability, the ability to own imperfection, learn, listen, and adapt accordingly is the oxygen to illumination.

Vesta reminds us to reignite those founding principles through a more evolved, expanded, and balanced collective perspective. Ideals like freedom, sovereignty, equality, justice, and integrity are not, by definition, selfish at all, but reflective of a larger truths grounded in what is right, not convenient, or even comfortable. Shame and pain live in secrecy. Its medicine is bringing it compassionately into the light.

It is intense, hard, painstakingly, powerful work. The kind that needs a halt to really work through. The kind that ignites our pain bodies, old and alive, bringing shadows and reactivity to the surface.

Good and tread lightly. Feelings are always valid, but they are not always correct to the situation in front of us. Careful not to react to re-enact, but pause to then respond. Your reaction is for YOU to look at. That is where the marrow of your own work is. It is not to through at the person stirring your personal mud. Because our fire can give rise to the light of our radiance or a weapon of destruction.

What fire are we tending? What truths are we defending? What are we inspiring?

The answers are only accessed in the most honest brilliance of radical accountability.

The word inspire means to breathe life into. We have that power now. We can breathe life into new foundations, principles, and ideals, more reflective of the evolution of our knowledge. One that is grounded in the heart.

As long as we have breath, we have life.
As long as we have a vision, we have hope.
As long as we have passion, we have right action.
As long as we have love, we have truth.
As long as we have light, we can overcome any darkness.
Even the darkest of nights cannot withstand the radiance of fire.

Our job is to keep the flame alive. Even during squalls and snow and weary, our breath lacking. We must keep the flame of hope alive and inspired.

Let your heart lead. It knows the way.

“Empathy is man’s greatest moral virtue, the force behind humanity’s paramount achievements and the creator of unbreakable connections; it is also under threat of extinction.”
Aysha Taryam
